Film Producer

Sarah Winshall is an independent producer championing personal films with unique worldviews. Her first feature, Clara’s Ghost (dir. Bridey Elliott), was called “a work of great daring” by Vanity Fair, and heralded as "a tender portrait of a neglected woman seeking solace in her vivid, perhaps deranged, imagination” by The Hollywood Reporter. It made its world premiere at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and Orion released the film in the winter of 2018. Sarah’s first documentary feature, ¡Las Sandinistas!, about the women who led Nicaragua's Sandinista Revolution, made its World Premiere at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival. It was released theatrically in the fall of 2018 beginning with a two-week run at the Film Forum in New York City.

Other work includes Andrew Hevia's 2019 experimental documentary, Leave the Bus Through the Broken Window, Albert Birney and Kentucker Audley's upcoming Strawberry Mansion, and short films “The Starr Sisters”, “Men Don’t Whisper”, (“The best short of 2017”), “Call Your Father”, and “Affections”. She also dabbles as a film critic with pieces published in FILMMAKER Magazine, Screen Slate, and Under the Radar. Sarah received a BA in Cinema Studies from New York University and a Master's Degree in Media Studies from The New School.
